If we believe the controversialist approach is wrong-headed, why would we do
this? My concern is more for Evangelicalism than any particular
organization. I realize the Gospel is in and of itself is offensive. But, we
do not need to add to the offense by a lack of charity on our part. In the
end, there is only one essential controversy and that is the Gospel.
Christian polemicists need to realize both of the following are in the
Bible:
He who is not with me is against me (Luke 11:23)
but also
Those who are not against us are for us. (Mark 9:40)
