Bob,

Good reminder and heads up.

Not just Paypal. Nearly every large credit card/bank system has had
this problem: Discover, Citi, Washington Mutual. The ASA started
getting PayPal related phishing expeditions before we even set up our
account, but because we were considering Paypal, the staff paid more
attention to them. The general rule is to never access these
financial sites via an email--always login via the secure web site.

When you click on the Donate button, you go to a SECURE Paypal
server. Your transaction is safely encrypted including the credit
card information that you submit. Your transaction is as safe as most
other financial transactions you do on the web. If you are
uncomfortable with that level of safety, then don't use this method.
If you are, it is provided as a convenience to those who wish to
support us.

You will never be asked for passwords, credit information, etc. via
an email from PayPal or any other e-commerce organization. Don't
respond to any such emails.

As I mentioned, you DO NOT have to become a PayPal member to utilize
this service if you are worried about such things.
