Hi Jack, you wrote:

Interestingly enough Hugh Ross, Fuz Rana and Michael Schele are doing a monthly series this year called Adam:Miracle, Myth, or Monkey.  They claim that they will use the latest evidence to present a model for human origins that is consistent with (their) interpretation of the Bible.

And what "evidence" will they include?  How about the evidence that shows man and ape share some of the same genetic code?  Think they'll work that in?  They had better read a little from Leaky, Johannson and Wolpoff before they make monkeys out of themselves.

I have subscribed to this, and have listened to the first two messages.  I have taken notes so can pass on what they say if you are interested, but so far nothing really that interesting.

The do make the following distinction; human beings, are those created in the image of God, and they are not hominids.  Hominids are bipedal primates with large brain capacities that are not human beings. (So neanderthal, and archaic homo sapiens are not human beings, but are hominids, and the most recent homo sapiens sapiens are human beings but not hominids.)

Using the term Homo sapiens sapiens indicates that we human beings are a sub-species and calls for another type of Homo sapiens.  The only other candidate among anthropological circles is the Neanderthals, making them Homo sapiens neanderthalis.  Whereas there are some who advocate for that, the issue is not settled yet, and won't be until we are able to come up with some solid Neanderthal DNA.  But just using the terminology indicates either that is what you believe, or you haven't the foggiest notion of what you are talking about.

They also say that human beings are anatomically distinct, but also behaviorally distinct.  The behavior, I think, that they think is what "the image of God is" is evidence of worshipping the creator.

If you had told the Israelites at the time of the Exodus that Pharaoh's army was in the image of God they'd have hit you over the head with a bag of manna.

So far they havent discussed when human being first appeared and what evidence they think indicates this. They also have not indicated how homo sapiens species that are anatomically identical to human beings, are not human beings.

Is a crocodile a crock?  Well, so is this.

Unfortunatly they do not have a forum for this series.

Do you think they want criticism?  God forbid they might actually learn something in the process!
