The type of individual who gets two PhD's back to back is someone who loves learning and loves the topic. Personally, he gets my admiration. I would love to go back for a second PhD. Why criticize him for it? I believe he stated his education background as a defense against the attacks.

I agree with a different post about the three peer reviewers. I have not heard of another article in which people questioned who the reviewers were. Clearly Sterbnerg believed the reviewers to be of quality.

To be blunt, this isn't brain surgery or an attempt at world peace. He didn't hurt anyone. The man was doing his job to the best of his abilities. Was he incompetent or lacking integrity? I don't think so. This happened at the end of his tenure as editor with no other obvious problems. He did his job as editor and apparently did it well except for one article. Hopefully this will open the scientific arena to other possibilities.

to me the crucial question is the position of the three peer reviewers.
We would really need to know who they are to go much further with this
discussion. The important question is whether they were in any way
chosen by Sternberg because they might be somewhat sympathetic towards
the Meyer view.

Second, what sort of individual goes and gets two Ph.D.'s back to back,
and then emphasizes this in his vitae? Virtually all the people I know
go on and do a postdoc after getting one Ph.D (who needs all that grief
again).
