Perfection of Adam, for instance, certainly implies (even defines) that he was complete and whole, without fault or defect. But Adam clearly needed Eve (not to mention God), hardly a characteristic of a perfect individual.

Adam was perfect before Eve was split from him. This is the position of Jewish mysticism and the nag hammadi texts. Once adam and eve were separate, desire came into being. Desire caused the fall. so, in the nag hammadi texts, one of the requirements for entering the kingdom of God is to have both male and female qualities, the way Adam was before he was split into two sexes.
