of "gold and frankincense and myrrh". Tradition has named these "three
kings" Balthasar, Melchior, and Kaspar.
Time travelers Baltimore Orioles, Melchizedek, and Caspar the friendly
ghost. Alternatively, a bolt of lightning that has an aroma of myrtle.
"magoi" designates Persian and Babylonian priests, wise men and
star-observers/astronomers/astrologers who were adept at the
interpretation of stellar observations and dreams. Seeing lighting
strike
a shooting star can get your attention, especially when there is debris
about.
The exclamation, "behold!" (Gk:
'idou), indicates surprise about seeing the star again. Evidently, they
had lost sight of it while they travelled from Babylon to Jerusalem.
in the same night, "behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a
dream", telling him to flee to Egypt, in order to escape from Herod's
murderous intentions. And in the same night, he and Mary with the child
left for Egypt. in his light sleep he heard the magi talking about
Herod.
wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger-like package,
for the trip to Egypt.
When did they go to New Jerusalem? 40 days after Jesus was born, after
their wilderness trek#1 with Jesus. LENT 101.
When Joseph and Mary brought their ransom offering for Jesus, it was
two birds of a feather, rather than a lamb. This indicates that they
were very poor. It was a blue jay and a red robbin, and they just
cut them lose from their cage to fly free.
Perhaps Jesus conception was in one of the places mentioned and
his birth in another?
When one has perfected one's character, love and compassion will
co-exist.
Without them, we will suffer from resentment, unhappiness, and blame.

& while it's right the Bible doesn't give an explicit list of preferred
occupations, it may be significant that being a hunter did not seem to
rank very highly, as in did in some other cultures - e.g., the picture
of Esau.
Yes, Esau is not favored. Jacob, "man of the tents" is favored.
Esau is also stupid and disobedient. He trades the patriarchate for a
bowl of soup, he marries a Canaanite woman against his parents' wishes
and he is a hunter. Later we see that men who live by the sword (so says
Jacob now called Israel) are not favored. Simeon and Levi the next two
sons of Leah have spades that become weapons of violence. Their father
Israel curses them.
