I think the point being made here is that Christians do sin. Thus, to say that a homosexual must be a liberal or false Christian is no more reasonable than asserting that everyone who covets must be a liberal or false Christian. Someone who habitually sins, showing no inclination to change, does not give demonstration of the work of faith in his life. Though it is not absolute proof that the faith is absent, it does give reason to doubt the credibility of claims of faith. On the other hand, someone who is seeking to repent and turn from sin may still be falling prey to it, despite long-term improvement. Also, in the process of working through our repentance, we may not be able to deal with eveything at once. This is particularly important to remember with regard to judging others-what looks like flagrant sin to me may be a big improvement for someone else from a different background, whereas they probably are doing better than I in other areas.

This does not specifically address the question of whether homosexuality is sinful. I don't know of anything new to add to previous discussions on that topic.
