The question was directed at European and Canadian opinion,
but maybe it is of some interest to people here on Asia as
well.

Generally, it is difficult to get much of anything
personal out of Japanese without being close friends
with them. However, a friend was asking me about W
masterminded 9/11 because had heard it from his
coworkers. So this appears to be going around in
Japan as well.

Some revealing statistics reported in the news were
that 74% hoped Bush would fail (more than even the
French 70%!). The press here tends to remain at
the higher level, so commentary is mainly aimed at
questioning the future and occasionally _lightly_
questioning policy.

However, privately, as you can see, there appear
to be some rather distorted views floating around
here as well.
