For the past several years, I've been following some very interesting
research on the history of the vapor canopy hypotheses, research being done
by a pastor in North Carolina. I've urged him to publish his conclusions in
PSCF, but thus far he has not taken that step. His has looked at rare and
even unknown sources, esp those documenting the work of Kellogg and its
influence on Rimmer, Morris, and others. He's also done lots of work on
Isaac Newton Vail, the mystical Quaker from the 19th century who originated
the idea. The link between heterodoxy and the canopy hypothesis is strongly
documented in his work. One of these days, I hope we will all get to see
the full story--or, at least a fuller story than we presently have.
