Hi Walt,

I guess I would qualify as the "other side" since I usually disagree with
Glenn, Dick and Michael.

I think the root is where to draw the line between miracle (God
intervened to overturn the natural chain of cause and effect) and
metaphor. For instance, Genesis 14:22 - "And the sons of Israel went
through the midst of the sea on the dry land, and the water were like a
_wall_ to them on their right hand and on their left." In case we missed
that, God repeated it in Gen 14:29 - "...and the waters were like a
_wall_ to them on their right hand and onn their left."

I don't see much other way to interpret this than to say that "wall"
implies that the air/water contact was vertical on the right and left
sides of the path of dry land. If you accept that interpretation, then
YEC is an easy concept to believe.
