I wasn't trying to imply a link between YEC and the Augustinian view of
original sin. I was simply trying to find out the facts, by calling for
someone to fill in the information I had only sketchily, about Augustine and
the Pauline text. I only learned this the other day, in informal
conversation with a local student (not a Messiah student) who is Eastern
Orthodox.
I think that original sin, or fallenness, or total depravity (I realize
those aren't necessarily the same concept), is a biblical doctrine, indeed I
have no doubt about it at all. All have sinned and come short of the glory
of God, we all need the grace of God through Christ's blood for our
salvation. The questions I have, concern various *theories* of how this is
imputed to us.
