    You can call it what you like, a payment, or an atonement. It is the same
    in the OT and the NT. For crying out loud, it's the same in the vedic hymns
    and in Zen Buddhism but only one religious figure set out to demonstrate how
    it was done in the face of the corrupt tripartite sacrifical system, and that
    was Jesus of Nazareth.

    God withdrew from himself to free us and we withdraw from our ''selves'' to
    freely do his will in return. That's the payback, the atonement.
