Jack Jackson commented, in part: "I understand your wanting to defend
friends and their way of life that seems OK to you."
I'm not at all sure I would use the words "seems OK to me." Being
heterosexual, I personally am somewhat repulsed by same gender intense
intimacy. That is probably more a result of over 70 years of
indoctrination in traditional thinking than anything else. I would prefer
a middle ground, "does not seem not OK to me." I hope you can see the
difference. It is that middle ground between condemnation and
celebration/affirming. I am still wrestling with this part of the issue.
"However, I think that this scripture that Jesus showed me for another
group of people in ministry may be appropriate for also for this
discussion. (followed by a selection from Acts 16) ...Just because
someone or group says they are for the gospel and proclaim it but are not
'clean' in a biblical sense does not mean they are of God. There could be
something deeper wrong that is not apparent to the intellect (which after
all is part of the flesh)."
I think you have made a good point. That is one reason I say, in my
position statement also posted here today, that I may be wrong. But when
push comes to shove, I must still use my reasoning powers, or else bow to
some authority figure and refer all questions to him/her. I cannot do the
latter.
I appreciate the dialog.
