Rich wrote, in part: " Religion involves absolutes. The purpose of the
Levitical prohibitions is to preserve the continuity of the family from
generation to generation. All behaviors which promote family cohesion and
reproduction are observed, those that do not are condemned."
I understand, Rich, where you are coming from. You have decided, I assume
on the basis of your own serious study, that the Levitical laws
necessarily apply to you. And so you have built your theology on that
basis, and argue that others ought to do so also.
With this understanding, what you write above (and elsewhere) is
consistent.
I, and most others on this list, have concluded, and you need to assume
that we have done so on the basis of our own serious study, that the
Levitical laws* do not all apply to us. We may be wrong. But so far I
have not seen any persuasive arguments that suggests we are wrong.
Peace.

problematical.
