what they do is right?"
Of course not. The operative word above is, of course, "think." My
comments on Romans 1 and the gay issue is not to approve of something God
disapproves. It is only to probe the narrow question of whether (or not)
that part of scripture can fairly be interpreted as a blanket
condemnation of all homosexual acts, including those which are part of a
committed same-gender domestic relationship. I conclude that it cannot be
so interpreted.
As Bob DeHaan noted, I am trying to put a "face" on some of my good
friends who are both committed Christians and also involved in a
same-gender domestic relationship. Let me refer you to the web site
www.mtviewchurch.com
The pastor of that church, Craig Peterson, a friend of mine, has a
same-gender partner, Mike. If you surf the site, you will find a passing
reference to this relationship. The congregation is supportive of Craig.
I have taught Sunday School classes at Mountainview; friend wife and I
have attended services there several times. Yes -- Craig has said it is
OK with him to share his website with people who may not yet understand.
Not all my gay and lesbian friends feel they can be so open, for reasons
that ought to be obvious.
Peace.
