If the recently discovered "meteor crater" in Iraq turns out to be just that,
the meteor which created this two mile wide crater would have almost
certainly caused earthquakes when it "smashed the land like a cup." (part of
the Deluge account contained in the Epic of Gilgamesh)

Has anyone looked? I doubt it. It seems to me this way of understanding the
cause and location of Noah's flood is pretty new. Maybe the next time an
expedition sets off to climb Mt. Ararat in search of Noah's ark someone could
talk them into looking for earthquake fault lines in Kuwait and southern Iraq
instead.
