The "one day" v "first day" issue is "new" to me. I added the following
to the Genesis in Question website.
>We have "one day" in Gen 1:5, not specifically the "first day." I don't
have a
>problem with considering a "day" to be a period of time (Gen 2:4, 17).
>But, it could also be a milestone in creation. That would fit with
>the specific references to light and darkness, day and night, and
>evening and morning.
Creation and Time by Hugh Ross tells how early church leaders pondered
the days of Genesis One. The "one day" v "first day" raised eyebrows
then, also. Perhaps it was God's clue that Gen 1 didn't necessitate a
144 hour creation? Perhaps it was part of His way to tell us that Gen 1
doesn't give a date for the creation of the universe (or its hosts)?
Since this is an ASA list, I'll add that perhaps it was part of His way
to stimulate scientific investigation?
This is "new" thinking for me, but feedback is welcome.
