            I meant "preposterous" in about the same sense that I would apply the
    word to a claim that Eddie Goedel (the midget signed by Bill Veeck for one at
    bat with the St. Louis Browns) was as great a hitter as Ted Williams, or that
    Helen Steiner Rice was a better poet than Emily Dickinson.
    I would not kill or die to combat either of those propositions, or indeed even
    want to spend much time debating them. I do think that it's unfortunate, and
    hinders serious discussion, when statements like "maybe the YECs are right" get
    put into the theology-science mix.
