Some smart graduate students show up and we all go to work learning the
subject. The first year the seminar is offered, the students usually learn
faster than the professor. But they go on and the professor remains and
offers the seminar again next year. After a few years the students begin
to think he knows something."
Loosely quoted from George Saridis, who ran a seminar on adaptive control I
took at Purdue in the late 60's.
