This reminded me of quote I found in the tag-line of one of my students:

"A mathematician is a blind man in a dark room looking for a
black cat which isn't there." -- Darwin

Anyone happen to know if the quote is genuine, and if so, the context?

Associate Professor | something and want to
Applied Mechanics | sound profound, use the
The Ohio State University | word 'entropy'"
