Bertvan: You suggested design to be God of the gaps wrapped in a new concept....
Would you consider continually modifiying one's philosophy or world view
upon the discovery of new information a religion of "God of the gaps"?
Frankly, it sounds like a good system to me.

Does it ? People see what they believe is design, just like you based on their "common sense". When sooner or later science can explain it, they have to move onwards. By proposing ID as a science they not only fail to show why it is a better theory but also fail to provide tools to support or disprove the theory. New information in science should not affect one's faith, except of course when one foolishly mixes faith and science.
