Hear, hear.

Admitting and correcting mistakes causes a loss of credibility wrt naive
believers, but (so long as mistakes are the exception and not the rule,
obviously) a -gain- in credibility wrt intellectually and scientifically
skilled believers, especially versus making mistakes and not admitting
them -- that'll kill you, as people come to believe you incompetent or
dishonest.
