Jospeh: <<For me, one of the problems with evolution is that it is based on
correlations and correlations are unable to inform on cause and effect.>>

Like snails and loess you mean ? But indeed, often there is a correlational study but often science goes beyond that and proposes models, predictions. Correlations are an important part of science but certainly not all of it.

Joseph <<Another problem is that it is retrospective which is speculative and
every attempt to experimentally verify has failed. Yet billions of
experiences by billions of people worldwide and down through history
verify the reverse. The reverse is commonplace.>>

Science is by nature speculative but you are wrong to claim that 'every attempt to experimentally verify has failed'. And certainly the statement that 'billions of people's experiences verify the reverse' is quite meaningless without some further specification

Joseph: <<The entire universe, including the biosphere, is running down not up. >>

Please explain ? I have noticed some interesting sorting of pebbles on the beach the other day. Is the entire universe running down ? Well over the long term yes, but that does not preclude 'running up'. Arguments from ignorance about the 2nd law of thermodynamics are all too common.

JosephL <<The trend of the entire observable universe is in the opposite direction
from evolution. Were this not a metaphysical issue, I doubt "science"
would spend a second on it. >>

Again you are wrong we see a lot of support for evolution at many scalse.

Joseph: <<I hope you do not find anything offensive in the above. It is meant
only to explain why I for one cannot subscribe to what I perceive as the
opposite of science.>>

Like the 4th dimension you mean ?

Geez. If it weren't that sad, it would be funny. I love the double standards Joseph seems to have for 'evolution' and his pet peeves.
