Is it ? I would say, it is not even close. Perhaps Darwin was wrong, perhaps Darwin did not say this or perhaps there are such fossils but people ignore them ?

Why not ? The layers show the same distribution, the layers show a steady progression over time. It's hard to ignore the data I would say. That is why Morris and others had to 'invent' ways to explain this using the idea of a flood.
