Noah's Flood

I thought the group, especially Glenn, would like to know what really
happened during the Flood. This is from a book of light verse on the Old
Testament by a Jewish friend:

It began in Noah's habitat
And wound up on Mount Ararat.

When the Lord saw people misbehaving,
He said, "That world just ain't worth saving.
Noah, you'd better build an ark."
And Noah heeded that remark.

He plunged in with religious fervor,
Though it was plain to an observer
His prospects for success were dismal
'Cause his knowledge was abysmal.

"At building ships I'm just a novice,"
Said Noah, "and with the lot of us,
How big an 'ark'? Is that a boat?
Can I be certain it will float?"

The Lord said, "Noah, I'll decide
How many cubits long and wide."
Moaned Noah, "Maybe we're just stupid;
Not one of us knows what's a cubit."

But the ark was built. The storm clouds blew,
and up the gangplank, two by two,
Went beasts with Noah and his clan,
According to the God Lord's plan.

Forty days and nights, then Noah needed
To see if the waters had receded.
Now if you were in that situation,
You'd likely glean that information

By looking starboard or to port,
But he did nothing of the sort.
He sent a dove, which signaled "fini,"
And brought back olives for his martini.

All that rain--hard to conceive it,
But it's in the Book, so you'd best believe it!
