Racism of evolution

Dan Muller said about a week ago:

The subject of evolutionary racism and some members' attempt
to explain it away is a major factor in my decision. Please
consider the following quotes and thinking of some 1800's
era evolutionary leaders:

Morton (not Glen of this list) - Negroes are less
intelligent because they have smaller brain size.

I assume this refers to the Morton discussed in Gould's "The Mismeasure of
Man", who did extensive tests to show the superiority of Caucasian brains.
There's only one problem with your claim, Dan. Morton did his work before
Darwin. He was a CREATIONIST.

Franz Gall - Brain size equals more intelligence.

Guess what: he died in 1828. What makes you think he was an "evolutionary
leader"?

It is obvious that even before Darwin, it was a truism to white European
males that they were the pinnacle of creation. Evolution didn't cause
racism; it was merely used to explain what everyone already "knew" to be a
fact: that whites were superior.
