What Provine was boasting about was convincing religiously minded students
there is no such thing as God, that "when you're dead you're dead," that there
is no objective basis for morals, ethics or theism, and that in light of
modern science "you have to check your brains at the church house door."

And so forth. That's what it really means. Provine likes to turn theists into
atheists. He's up front about this, and says he has a very good "success"
rate.
