In archaeology, or in attempting to uncover a fraud like the Piltdown hoax,
we have some understanding of the characteristics of the "designers". They
are human and, being human ourselves, we have some confidence that we can
identify the work of other humans. When the designer is not human --
definitely in the case of God, who knows in the case of Extraterrestials --
identifying their work is likely to be far more difficult.
