I can't believe the twists and turns this discussion is negotiating. Jim,
I trust you are not claiming that _no_ observational data has anything to
do with theology. There is lots of observational data around and I'll be
the first to admit that the connection of much of it with theology is at
best tenuous. But some of it certainly has a bearing on it. Are you
leading up to, or perhaps have you already siaid, that certain hominid
remains are simply outside the scope of the Old Testament, because that's
not what the writers were talking about? Forgive me if I'm asking dumb
questions. I have not been able to put much time into this group lately.

OTOH, I have always believed that John was talking about Jesus Christ in
the passage Glenn quoted.
