Unusual health-related effects are not necessarily healing. A pastor shared the story of his father, who had long been alcoholic and abusive. The shock of a couple of near-fatal alcohol related accidents prompted repentance. Some time later, however, he took offense and became estranged from his family again. A stroke impacted his short-term memory, and he forgot that he was mad at anyone for the rest of his life.

This also complicates the effort to quantify an effect of prayer. Was he healed? No. Does the result seem positive? Yes.
