    This is probably almost the case today, but it wasn't always. Prior to
    1961 most YECs were probably either unaware of the problems posed by the
    fossil record or chose to ignore them. It was the gap theorists who
    attributed most fossils to a global catastrophe, one caused by the fall of
    Satan, but they weren't really YECs since they didn't insist that the
    original creation was recent.
