    Hello,

I am not really sure who said what and to whom, but I would like to put
in a few cents about Christian Scientists (which I am not).

Back in my "college" days I knew a very bright person who was a
Christian Scientist and everybody thought that it was a "loony"
religious belief system and that he must be "loony" also. However, I
knew that he was very intelligent & I felt that it deserved more than
    that simple dismissal.

I talked to the student who held those beliefs. At first he was very
defensive, but finally he realized that I was sincere.

I thoroughly read Mary baker Eddy's book -- not once but twice! After
reflecting upon it, I did not accept the belief system but I could well
understand how much overlap there was between what she said, what Jesus
said and much of "conventional" Christian belief.

I think that much of what has been exchanged on this list is not at all
proper from one Christian to another. The only real issue (to me) is
whether or not a given individual is committed to following Jesus as
his/her Lord and Saviour. Such discussions can take place "OFFLINE".

Even that may be a bit to "crafted" to satisfy some people. But it is
my "bottom line" and other issues are quite secondary.

    IMHO

    Walt
