The original question was on omnipotence. Petitionary prayer that recognizes
the limits of divine action still makes good sense. That's why we both pray
for healing AND submit to medical treatment.
David Ray Griffin argues for the reality of God's variable action (as in
response to prayer) even if that variable action is not omnipotent and takes
place within limits.
Se Griffin's _Religion and Scientific Naturalism_ for a much better
development of this.
