Appendix 3 (and 2) are both diagrams and should be available on the web
with the rest of the standards shortly.

I suspect that these appendices are identical with the those in the
previous standards darft of the standards committee.

Appendix 3 is a hierarchical diagram showing the sequence in which aspects
of scientific learning are aquired developmentally. The show the preffered
grade levels at which those aspects of scientific thinking should be
    emphasized.

The order is 1) observing (seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting, smelling), 2)
communicating (silent, oral, written, pictorial), 3) comparing (sensory
comparisons, relative position comparisons, measurment), 4) organizing
(categorizing, grouping, classifying, ordering, seriating and sequencing),
    5) relating (cause and effect relationships, space/time relationships,
controlled experimentation) , 6) inferring (predicting patterns based on
data, formulating models, theorizing), and 7) applying (using knowledge to
    solve complex problems, inventing).
