Could you give the reference in Nature this thread is discussing: I just sighed
on.
Question:
Is it not the case that the neurological community can stimulate "religious
experiences" via electrical pulses? Thus are we not to conclude it is the
electricity causing the excretion of certain chemicals within our brains that
are our experience?
To measure spirituality do we not need a reference point for what constitutes a
"spiritual experience;" or at least a working definition?
We certainly are chemical and therefore all of our experience must result in a
chemical signature at some level. However, maybe the patterns of NMR (MRI) are
more suited for distinguishing "spiritual" from non-spiritual experience.
Although I remain very dubious.
