The historical evidence is the very thing you cited earlier:
<<1 Cor 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures:
5 And that he was SEEN of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6 After that, he was SEEN of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom
the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7 After that, he was SEEN of James; then of all the apostles.
8 And last of all he was SEEN of me also, as of one born out of due time.>>
(If someone could show historical evidence that Jesus had never lived or not
risen, it would falsify Christianity--but until then the historical evidence
in the Gospels, Acts, and I Cor 15 stands.)
This, along with related statements in the NT is the historical evidence; and
it is this to which the Spirit bears witness. Acts 5:32 "And we are witnesses
of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who
obey Him."
The gift and gifts of the Holy Spirit (which have effects in the empirical
world) are the confirming proof of the historical evidence of the resurrection
of Christ.
An example is Acts 2:32, 33 "This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are
all witnesses. Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and
having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured
forth this which you both see and hear." As anyone walks yoked to HIm, they
experience the same confirming gift and gifts. Thus, although the historical
evidence is part of the proof, your faith in Christ is intended to rest not
upon that alone but upon the continuing works of the Holy Spirit. As the
apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:5, "that your faith should not rest on
the wisdom of men, but on the power of God."
