As for Augustine, in Confessions, he provides a lengthy discourse on an
allegorical interpretation of Genesis which is, IMHO, quite fascinating
and edifying. I don't believe he specifically states his position on the
length of each day, but the impression the reader is left with is that he
doesn't buy the literal 7 X 24 creation. The book is available at most
bookstores (and I imagine libraries), so I'd recommend getting a copy and
giving that section a read.
