Jim is essentially right. There are 104 amino acids in cytochrome c and
human cytochrome c and chimp cytochrome c are identical, but rhesus monkeys
differ by one (from man) and spider monkeys and others differ by as much as
five. Still this makes man and apes similar at least 96% of the time. No
other species are as close to the humans in cytochrome c sequence than the apes.
