The article in Christianity Today, by William Willimon, also makes this
point. As Christians our view of truth is inextricably linked to the
Person of Jesus Christ. In John 16:13 Jesus seems to me to be saying that
we had better rely on the Holy Spirit to teach us what is truth. Trying to
derive it from the Scriptures alone could become a very prideful exercise.
We need the guidance of the Holy Spirit even to recognize truth.
