GISS posted their maps and graphs for the year a couple days ago. The diagnosis: three of the four hottest years in the instrumental record happened in the last half decade.
2009 comes in at number 4 missing number 2 by .01 degrees C. All-time record high November. Map here comparing to number 1 (2005) and number 2 (2007).
