Before leaving, Gregory, I must correct your false impression of what I had said:

Hi Ted,
Thanks for this! No worries about lack of replies due to going on the road, as I'll also do the same in a few days. It's a tough time right now to keep engaged with this list.
I certainly get the drift of what you're saying and would not want you to disclose confidential conversations here on this public list. But Ted, your reported results betray your own percentages!
You note 5 people (no doubt each is an actual person that you've met or corresponded with) who are ID leaders and only *one* of them is YEC! I assume the TE is not YEC. That's still certainly *not* the 90% you claimed were 'young earthers' in the 'Big Tent'!

Gregory:
The list of "Person 1 is X" was entirely made up by me, simply to illustrate the nature of the claim I was putting forth in a private context. Draw no conclusions from it, please, relative to percentages; that was in no way part of my intent.
And, my claim is that if you subtract those ID advocates who deny EITHER an "old" earth & universe OR common descent, then the tent would shrink drastically. I was not saying that most ID advocates are YECs. That would be highly inaccurate; nearly all ID leaders are not YECs. Most ID advocates are OECs, at least at the leadership level; at the popular level it might be less true (I suspect that a higher percentage of popular supporters are YECs than the leadership would be).
So, please get my claim straight, before contesting it.
Ted
