For what it's worth,

I think that until we can answer some of the questions Bernie puts above, we can't even determine if there IS a problem for Christian theology, much less formulate it in any coherent manner.

That said, I take the view that the theological problems raised by aliens can be seen as falling somewhere in between the question of angels on the one hand, and those who have never heard the Gospel on the second, and under the general category of "don't presume to tell God how to suck eggs" on the third (who says aliens have only two hands?).

So I have a pretty simplistic retort to the question "What about aliens?" viz;

"Will not the judge of all the earth do right" (Genesis 18:25)

Purists will note, of course, that the verse is not strictly applicable to those living on planets other than earth. Indeed, one might even wonder what will become of those on the International Space Station when Jesus returns....
