But it disagrees with what you wrote, because you said a person could interpret it differently and be ok by the letter of the law; I disagreed.
Furthermore, I don't think it is the right answer ("turn the other cheek" in that example). I think the right answer is to defend yourself and/or remove yourself from the situation. I think "turning the other cheek" in this example is extreme and wrong, just as is "repaying evil for evil" is.

Just because shins are not mentioned doesn't mean it also doesn't apply to shins and all other body parts. The obvious and reasonable thing would be to assume the 'turn the other cheek' is an example for all other body parts too ('turn the other shin'). Jesus goes on to say how to positively react, too, by loving and praying for your enemy; there's no place or room for shin kicking.
Exactly. The commandment covers shins as well as cheeks and no amount of moral sophistry will allow one to evade the fact.
And the correct response is to love and pray for one's enemy - "love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you" (Matthew 5:44)
Nice answer to your own question.
