Ok, im my shock and amazement on the first reading I missed that he still rejects evolution on purely theological grounds but accepts the scientific evidence for it and attempts to debunk the creationist arguments against it which is enough to prove my point about exposing the idolatry of the church.
Still an absolutely amazing development and a major crack in the creationist dam.

I think this is one of the most amazing articles I have ever read. I can't believe this.
How could a YEC Bariminology Professor from Dayton College embrace evolution? What??? This is a classic example of truth being stranger than fiction.
But I agree with his idolatry argument though and have already forwarded it to all my old RTB and YEC friends with a modest "I told you so". He is exactly right and this kind of criticism could only come from the inside. This is the equivalent of Luke Skywalker getting his proton torpedo into the ventilation shaft leading to the core of the death star.

I ran across a blog post on ScienceBlogs today and would be interested in hearing list members' responses to it. It's a response by a NCSE employee to a blog posting by a YEC from Bryan College, but more well-reasoned and respectful than is typical for other Science Bloggers.
