RE: [asa] Thoughts on Giglio?

As a Christian I said Giglio is very bad. It wouldn't be bad if he used the 'star in the universe" and Laminin as 'illustrations' but he uses them as God's actual signature of His creation. He is encouraging the listeners to give this 'witness' to intellectual believers who know something about astronomy and biology, but likely they will be faced with laughs. Yes, it is on YouTube if you want to see it. Laminin is the worst example:

It is also funny how he is speaking to very YEC friendly people (like at my old church), and then drops how far away these stars are, millions of light years for their light to reach us, never touching on the consequences to YEC thinking.

Hi Allan,

I'd also agree with Murray's summary.

I haven't seen the Giglio DVDs, but I recently watched the equivalents on YouTube.

Coincidentally, I just wrote about the popularity of Christian astronomical awe on my blog:

It seems like the topic of Louie Giglio and his videos about the wonders of creation has come up here before, but my search of the archives has not turned up any discussion. So either I'm remembering wrong or search engines miss things in our archives. I seem to recall mixed reviews -- good at showing wonder of God's creation, but sloppy science here and there (albeit better than the pseudoscience often seen in Evangelical churches) -- something about a cross-shaped molecule that some people thought really stretched things.

Anyway, somebody will be showing Giglio's video at my church soon. Should I be concerned? Steer people away? Steer people toward?
