Heya Murray,

I'd second Rich's thoughts on this matter across the board. Bluster and
noise, and really, not much to be afraid of (I think 'annoyance' is vastly
more apt.) My estimation is that atheism, certainly the New Atheism type,
has been running out of steam for a while - one can only play the same tune
for so long before people, even more agnostic/irreligious types, get tired
or downright sick of it. There are some other factors at work politically,
etc, but that would sum up most of my thoughts on the matter.

As an aside, I'm not sure Bill Maher is even an atheist. He's some kind of
deist-y type, at least judging by his past statements, so that should give
you some further input on what it means for the AAI to give the award to him
of all people.
