Go back to the exchange between Frist and Maher. Frist was trying to show
why Maher is a kook by citing peer-reviewed science. The attack on
peer-reviewed science came largely from ID and movies such as Expelled but
as this shows it is not exclusive to it. I realize who Bill Maher is and
how extreme he is. Him getting that award started a firestorm in the secular
science community. See

You have leftist sites such as the DailyKos defending Frist and demanding
Maher apologize and correct himself on the air.

But, that's my point. This is meant to be shocking. In effect, he and ID are
on the same side in attacking peer-reviewed science. They also both use the
same misrepresentation of the scientific consensus M.O, cf. the bogus Salk
quote Maher used. The difference is when Maher gets an award or says these
outrageous things the secular science community rebukes him. When we as
Christians do the same for those who are ID advocates we get attacked for
having the temerity to suggest that somehow Christians should have higher
standards than Atheists!
