The words after and before can be deceptive here since we usually mean
temporal sequence when using such terms. What is being discussed here is a
logical priority of a simultaneous event which probably -- at least in
Burgy's mind and others too -- underscores the unimportant point point. The
only really important point is if Calvin is right here then we cannot take
credit for our salvation where we were spiritually enlightened without God
even for a "blink of an eye". That's at the core of what is important to
many monergistic Calvinists such as myself: not promoting spiritual pride.
