I am sympathetic to Cameron's critique of Protestant fragmentation. When I taught in our old interdisciplinary course on Western Civ, I essentially offered the "I told you so" viewpoint that Cameron articulates.
With regard to educating clergy about science, however, Cameron and others may find it interesting to know that a major new program to help do that is now under way. I refer to the "Science In Ministry" initiative from the Templeton Foundation. The first round of recipients is now listed at http://www.scienceforministry.org/finalist.aspx .
There are some terrific ideas being supported here. Theological education about science is under way now, big time.
