Thanks for the clarification as that's exactly what I mean. It's not moving
from "bad" politics to "good" politics but to transcend politics. The other
thing I mean by depoliticizing is which direction the arrow points between
the Bible and public policy. It's just fine to try to find a Biblical basis
for a position on the various social issues. What you shouldn't do -- but
what is invariably done -- is to start from a fixed policy position and
justify it post hoc from the Bible.
